Who am I?

imgross.org chicago humor blog

This picture was snapped over the weekend of a hipster dufus donning an outfit that would serve as his best impression of a member of the 1990′s band “Superdrag”.  Notice in the background the aqua custom cruiser without a seat.  We can only hope that someone stole it.

Hipsters are the most unoriginal people on the planet.  We all alter our fashion as time dictates, but make no mistake, the guy with the “21 jump street” t shirt was not wearing one when the show was popular.  Expressing oneself with clothing is a hollow means of creativity.  I don’t know anyone who struck me as original before i heard a word come out of their mouth.

People who know me well know that I constantly take jabs at Hipsters.  I’ve even been accused of being a “self-loathing hipster”.  But let me clear the air now.  I don’t like people who dress like this because it gives them a free pass to be dull.  Any outlandish thing they write, sing, say, create can be excused by the fact that they are beginning on an accelerated way of thinking.  I don’t think so geek.  You don’t get a free pass for your avant-garde marionette show because you like Dr. Suess on a different level than the rest of us.

Let’s all take a step back and try to remember why we do what we do.  No one has their own identity.  I classify myself in the realm of American Eagle shopper who enjoys their accommodating large size selection.  But I also like the clothes.

Maybe I’ve crossed myself up, it could be the same for this guy.  The hipster store could always have what he needs, and the clothes he chooses could be just a matter of convenience and integrity…

Na, Fuck em.
