And a part of my childhood dies with him. “Major League” was perhaps the most quotable and enjoyable movie of my youth. The things I understood and laughed at when I was 5 years old watching it for the first time became overshadowed by the things that I realized watching it when I was 15. Later in life, it became a message about achieving things despite adversity. Lou Brown is represented perfectly by character actor James Gammon in the film. He’s too old to go diving in a locker and he wants to teach the kid some control before he kills somebody. He shined in other films like “Cabin Boy” and “Wyatt Earp” and he will forever be a part of my lingo for saying, “Forget about the curveball, Ricky, give ‘em the heater.” Thanks for the laughs James Gammon.
