well, folks…the past year has been something. i still can’t believe there is a website called imgross.org. its true though. and people write for it and read it and share stories about it. people even suggest things to put on imgross although never follow through doing it themselves. i bet “imgross’s friends” is to “imgross” as “jeff foxworthy’s friends” is to “jeff foxworthy”. 100 doll hairs (muffled).
a lot of work has gone into making this website possible.
one year ago, a few friends had a funny idea for a website. they came up with imgross.com. since imgross.com was already taken, they settled for imgross.org. in retrospect, it was probably a blessing in disguise.
starting a website with no formal training was not an easy task. a LOT of work has gone into making imgross possible. Webmaster Phelps should pat himself on the back for his efforts and dedication to this website. dealing with a staff of overqualified, dejected, alcoholic, losers should have driven him to certain suicide within weeks of its creation. fortunately, working so closely with us caused him to put things in perspective. Phelps has been incredibly consistent technically and creatively at hours the rest of the staff wouldn’t ever be up yet for. like 8:00am.
i look back fondly at the last year of imgross and i am moved by the work put in by the founding members (scott, Senator Robert Byrd, Myles Kennefick, Webmaster Phelps). We always said that it would take some time to find our identity. throughout the course of the last year i have found out many things. i have learned that when people have a medium to voice themselves that also gives them an obligation to use it. Every person that has worked on imgross has helped to shape its identity
what is that identity? Im sure it depends on who you ask. the people i work with have astounded me constantly with their incredible work ethic and dedication. I think the people who have helped in imgross’s creation and success are some of the smartest, realest people i have ever had the privilege to know. you guys are resilient, unrelenting, beacons of creativity, and an everyday inspiration. im sure they would surprise me with their answers to that question of what imgross’s identity is. i feel like it means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. hopefully the readers will see that in our future work.
to everyone involved after imgross’s creation, glad you could make it. there is reason to be skeptical of blogs. its flattering to see so many people expend energy submitting articles, telling friends and slapping stickers on things. we need more people like you.
the sometimes confused readers, thank you. i would like to say imgross.org would not exist without you, but you know that isn’t the case. we have a “donate” button (we are a fucking organization). use it, or buy some t-shirts. nonetheless, if a tree falls in the woods, blah blah blah….thanks a lot for reading, readers. stay weird.
i really wanted to write more, thank more people, and possibly reminisce about the past 52 weeks but right now, much like june 25th 2009, i am up at 5 in the morning hungry, tired, and staring at a sunrise while trying to write for this website. my work is done. i think ill have a smoke, eat some 2-day leftover takeout and fall asleep face down in my pillow. don’t worry though. by the time this article is posted, ill be well rested. i might even get drunk tonight…its my birthday.

among this circle of friends saying, “You’re gross” is almost the same as, “I love you” so to everyone reading this: you are gross
you gross hun!
