DePaul University’s search for a Mens basketball coach has turned to former Chicago Bull star Reggie Theus to bring the program back to prominence.
With a stint at New Mexico State, Theus has a short yet semi successful NCAA resume to present Depaul Athletic Director Jeanie Lenti Ponsetto. Depaul has made it clear that they are not interested in hiring Theus based on his recent NCAA merits, but rather would like to look to his great success coaching the Deering Torpedoes on TNBC’s Hang Time.
“Mr. Theus possesses a very versatile coaching style. His intense yet fatherly demeanor allowed him to coach a Co-Ed basketball team to the Indiana State High School Basketball Championship 5 years in a row. That is the type of success we are looking for. With Mr. Theus at the wheel, I truly believe that we can play at the level of basketball that Depaul enjoyed during the 1980′s.” Lenti Ponsetto said.
