I saw that Iran was the number one search term on Yahoo! and decided that I couldn’t be the last to find out about Iran. After I read all the boring shit about Iran in the news I moved on to a link about half way down the page that said: Iran – World Factbook, which hilariously takes you to a link on the website cia.gov. I found there were some fascinating statistics on this website like that their military expenditures are only 67th out of 234 countries. I was fascinated until I remembered they arm their soldiers with books and not guns. But the best part was when I saw their ethnic breakdown and realized they are a melting pot just like us. It goes something like this:
Persian 51%, Azeri 24%, Gilaki and Mazandarani 8%, Kurd 7%, Arab 3%, Lur 2%, Baloch 2%, Turkmen 2%, other 1%.
I wonder if their are way more funny Azeri and Gilaki comedians and if Mazandarianians dominate pro sports but the majority of the coaches and owners are Persian.
