Friends Come to Knoblauch’s Defense

Chuck Knoblauch’s friends were quick to come to the former major leaguer’s defense today after charges were filed against him for assaulting his common-law wife.  “He was trying to kick the dog and somehow he ended up punching her,” said long time friend Kent Hrbek.  “I was driving with him a few weeks ago on the highway, and when he tried to change lanes he did a U-turn and we were facing on coming traffic,” said David Wells, “I almost shit my pants.”  Former Yankee teammate Tino Martinez added, “Let’s face it, the guys aim has been off for a long time.  I can’t believe it didn’t happen sooner.”  Knoblauch was unavailable for comment.
