The Progression of Firing People

YE TELELVISON

In the various occupations I have had in my life, I have held many roles including some that have been supervisory. During my time as a supervisor I have fired all of 8 people. 8 is not really a number to be proud of or ashamed, but it is astonishing how I evolved from the first to the eighth time. I imagine it is something like how people say they become accustomed to killing. Each episode becomes more aggressive and emotionally detached.

1st Time: “Look, I’m really sorry but I don’t think things are working out here. It seems like maybe you’re not grasping everything we do here and maybe you should seek another opportunity. We thank you for your time.”

2nd Time: “I’m sorry but it’s really not working out here. I think you need to look for a new job because we are going to have to let you go. Thanks for your time.”

3rd Time: “It’s really not working out here. It seem like you don’t know what exactly it is we do here. We’re going to have to let you go.”

4th Time: “I guess you just haven’t figured it out yet. We’re going to have to let you go.”

5th Time: “You just aren’t capable of doing your job. I’m going to have to let you go.”

6th Time: “We can’t have someone like you working here. You’re making me look bad. You’re fired.”

7th Time: “Just because we slept together doesn’t mean you can pull this shit. You’re a moron and you’re making me look like a fucking asshole. You’re fired.”

8th time: “You’re fucking fired! Get your fucking shit and get the fuck out of here. Don’t ever come back.”
