I’m sitting here on a boat deck turned bar at Chicago’s North Ave beach, alone, drinking a strawberry daquiri while Filter’s “Take a picture” plays on the loud speakers. How did my life come to this? The most immediate explanation is that I had to leave my apartment when I found myself watching a montage on youtube set to “Another sad love song” by Toni Braxton. The bigger issue though is that I recently quit my day job so I have a butt load of unstructured time. As much as I enjoy drinking alone, I really need to find something to do. Here are some of the options I’m considering:
-Kill Spencer Pratt. That fuck really pisses me off. I feel this falls into the “Productive” category and would give me some good karma.
-Reenact the final dance scene from Slumdog Millionaire. This is something I’ve wanted to do for a while. Anyone who wants can join in, but I get to dance with Freida Pinto.
-Learn how to play an instrument. No, I’m not gonna take piano lessons and you won’t find me covering “Satellite” on an acoustic guitar. But you might see me on the corner playing the sitar or the didgeridoo. like the video below
-Perform social experiments. This is probably the most realistic option. I just texted everyone in my phone book “where is dutch” to see how people react. I’ll let you know how it goes.
-Fly a kite. Seems like a nice time. Does anyone have a kite?

It all makes sense now. I definitely got that text & pondered for a few minutes.. I have a suggestion:
Ride every color train in one day. Get off at random spots and have a beer, shot, martini, bomb, bloody and/or cocktail. Take a picture with each bartender that serves you. You may need company. I’m willing to sacrifice one of my days off to come along for the ride and of course the experience. Special shirts & checklists is a must! (I’m beginning to think i should have my own list of things to do without a day job) Hahaha!
