I was going to go to the Lincoln Park Zoo the other day because it makes me feel nostalgic. I like remembering when I was a kid and used actually enjoy going to the zoo to see the animals and not see it as a chore to appease a girl that wanted to do something “fun.” I was walking by the strip towards the zoo right before Stockton and noticed a strip of park where there was a rectangular forming of benches. There were birds out feeding on the bread old people were tossing them. I decided to go buy a loaf of bread. Instead of walking through the zoo that would sway my emotions between the euphoria of being in love (or thinking I was) and the depression of the heartache of losing said love, I would just sit and feed the birds.

After grabbing my loaf of bread I sat next to an old man. It was the only seat not taken in this sea of benches. I thought to myself, “Either I lucked out by grabbing the last seat, or nobody wants to sit next to this crazy old bastard.” I lucked out.
